The Head of State met the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin

The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr Alassane OUATTARA, arrived in Berlin (Germany) in the afternoon of Sunday 19 November 2023, to take part in the 5th High-Level Conference on the G20 “Compact with Africa” initiative. At the end of the day, he held talks with the German Chancellor, H.E. Mr Olaf SCHOLZ, at the German Federal Chancellery.
Discussions focused on the good prospects for cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Germany, and on issues of common interest, notably security, the financing of African economies and the mobilisation of private investment for Africa.
The Head of State and the German Chancellor welcomed the exemplary cooperation and trusting partnership between their two countries, which will be reflected in the signing on 21 November of a new partnership called the “Partnership for Climate and Development”, worth around 550 million euros, including 100 million euros for 2023.
They also welcomed the convergence of their views on current global challenges in terms of security, the fight against climate change and the development of renewable energies.
The meeting was attended by the Minister, Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, Mr Fidèle SARASSORO, the Minister of Finance and Budget, Mr Adama COULIBALY, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Souleymane DIARRASSOUBA, the Deputy Secretary General of the Office of the President of the Republic, Ms Masséré TOUREKONE, and the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Germany, Mr Philippe MANGOU.
